C4GT --CANCELLED!
On Friday, July 9, 2021, it was announced that this proposed 1.1 GW gas plant was cancelled. NOVI Energy, the developer of this project that officially began in 2016, issued the following statement:
"NOVI Energy cares deeply about the communities it serves and the affordable, reliable power facilities it helps build. After taking feedback from the community and assessing the changing market, NOVI Energy has decided not to pursue the C4GT power plant."

The Richmond Times Dispatch story that broke this news reported "The move was welcomed by people in the county who say they don’t want more fossil fuel pollution. Opponents say local and state officials haven’t been transparent about the proposal and a plan for a second plant a mile away."
C5 will continue to fight the Chickahominy Gas Plant, that second plant, and is grateful for the community members who've advocated against C4GT with us!
